What is Bowenwork?
Bowenwork involves performing moves with mild to moderate pressure over specific soft tissue structures. What these precise movements do is first, help to calm the nervous system and second, allow the body to release areas of myofascial tension. This process is gentle, and doesn’t require inflicting pain or using force to achieve results. The aim of the technique is to send the body into a deeper state of relaxation in order to allow the body’s innate healing mechanisms to get activated and start the healing process. Once the body is relaxed with a calm nervous system, it can truly begin to heal. It can release both old and new tension patterns, increase blood flow, improve functional alignment, increase energy, and eliminate pain.
